Community Growing Volunteer

The role of a Gardening Volunteer is centered around the maintenance and development of a three-acre plot dedicated to the growth of indigenous trees, shrubs, wildflowers, and a variety of local fruit trees. This site is also home to numerous raised beds, specifically used for the cultivation of herbs and soft fruits. The responsibilities of a volunteer include a range of activities such as weeding, watering, picking herbs and soft fruits, clearing spaces, mulching around tree bases, forming footpaths, propagating herbs, and planting trees. In addition, volunteers have the opportunity to engage in construction tasks like setting up plant stages and constructing compost bays. Working in concert with the project leader and fellow volunteers, the collective effort goes towards enhancing and conserving the environment, which in turn supports local wildlife and serves the community.
